Wuhan Technology and Business University

Wuhan Technology and Business University (The former was Wuhan Yangtze Business University) was founded in 2002, and approved by the State Ministry of Education to be a full-time university of ordinary undergraduate course. It became a Cultivating Unit of Innovation Capability Promotion Program (2011 program) in first batch of institution of higher learning in Hubei province.

[SCHOOL-RUNNING SYSTEM]

The university implements that "the president responsibility system under the leadership of the board of directors", persevere in the "board leadership, president is responsible for the school, the party committee guarantee, professor make the study of subjects and democratic management".

The honor president is Mr. LI Wuwei, who is the vice chairman of 11th CPPCC, the famous economist and "the father of China's creative industries".

Professor ZHANG Jinlong acts as university president who is a senior expert in management field and deputy director of academic committee of doctoral tutor of Huazhong University of Science and Technology.

Comrade CHEN Wei serves as Party secretary of the university, who engaged in the work of the party and administration long time, appointed by the Provincial Working Committee in Colleges and Universities, and the Provincial Department of Education.

Also the university has employed a batch of famous experts and scholars from Wuhan University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology and so on well-known colleges and universities, to hold the post of heads of the university and academic leaders.

[EDUCATION BACKGROUND & DEGREE]

According to stipulations of the university student status management and qualified result the graduates will be issued the graduation certificate of Wuhan Technology and Business University; conforming to the bachelor's degree the graduates will be awarded the bachelor's degree of Wuhan Technology and Business University.

[CAMPUS CONSTRUCTION]

The university is located at south gate of Wuhan city and seated in university town of the beautiful scenery of Huangjiahu Lake. It covers an area of 915,000 square meters, therein the buildings construction area is about 341,000 square meters, the books of library collection are about 1.15 million copies, possess facilities of logistics service with perfect teaching and scientific research, set up a complete range of the experimental teaching center, library, and 156 practice bases off-campus.

Now there are Ten faculties and One department: School of Economic Business and Foreign Languages；School of Management；School of Accounting；School of electronic commerce；School of technology；School of Humanity and Law；School of Art and Design；School of National Education；School of International Education；the Department of Public Basic Course.

 “Cultivating business elite, fostering brilliant talents in the industry”，in accordance with the“ knowledge + ability + skills + quality” requirements the university adapts to the needs of the developing society, cultivate the compound applied talents with high quality, who has commanded basic knowledge of the specialty and skills necessary in the area systematically, and possess of capacity for innovation and career consciousness.

There are more than 16,000 students, who are full-time undergraduate and junior college educational. Our students won awards more than 800 in person-time in the authority competitions of the national and provincial, the achievements in the competitions came out top among other similar universities. For nearly three years, the employment rate of graduates in one-time is more than 91%, in 2013 the graduates employment rate was 92.24% in one-time. The quality of graduates is accepted widely by society and the employment experience was exchanged with other college and university in Hubei province in 3 years as a typical case advanced.

In 2013, the pass rate of 52% was A-certificate of judicial examination of legal science specialty compared average passing rate was only 9% nation-widely, even there is a 72% passing rate in one classes; the graduate school exam rate is above 70% year by year in the Environment and Life Sciences Department, and a large number of students was admitted to a well-known university domestic and abroad to study for a degree of master's and doctoral students.

[DISCIPLINE CONSTRUCTION]

The university relies mainly on economic, management and etc. disciplines while making coordinated development of the pattern of subject construction in technology, literature, law, art and etc. multidisciplinary. It sets 32 specialties of undergraduate and junior college in 20 disciplines of the economics, management, technology, literature, law and art, involving more than 50 professional directions.

The university has two key disciplines (cultivation) of Hubei province, two key cultivated undergraduate majors of Hubei province, three strategic training plan programs of emerging (pillar) industry’s talents in Hubei colleges and universities, two programs about "specialties pilot reform comprehensive” of Hubei province, one excellent course of Hubei province.

[CONSTRUCTION OF TEACHERS’ TEAM]

The university has a group of teaching staff in the high level, who are leaded by senior professors’ experts, and let top-notch personnel to be academic leaders, to be academic backbone of excellent talent.

Now there are 806 full-time teachers, including professors and associate professors are accounted for 30.3%, doctoral and master's degree for 79.7% of the number of full-time teachers. There are 51 master tutors, 32 doctoral supervisors and 9 experts to share special government allowances of the State Council.

The university also has hired famous experts in business circle and well-known professors as the visiting professors who are come from Wuhan University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, City University of Hong Kong, Taiwan National Central University and so on other colleges and universities. An advisory committee is consisting of a batch of old experts of higher education, the headmaster, politics and business management experts. These professors, experts make seminars and lecture to the students on a regular basis, to guide the teaching and scientific research, promoting the improvement of the teaching and scientific research level.

The teaching & research, scientific research funds of our teachers is nearly ten million RMB, which is at the top of similar colleges and universities in Hubei province. The university attaches great importance to the innovation of entrepreneurship education, sets up specially the school of innovation entrepreneurship education, build a entrepreneurship practice platform to promote students enhancing the innovation ability as the goal, to explore and establish "Blending in Five " system of innovation entrepreneurship education, that is to blend the innovation entrepreneurship education into the classroom; in internship and practical training; in special training; in the competition of science and technology and campus culture.
